It’s a bit rare this day in age to find an athlete that is self-aware. Boston Celtics young gun Jayson Tatum seems to be that guy. While Tatum is a solid piece of the Boston Celtics and showed what the future holds during the 2017 NBA Playoffs, he admits that he wouldn’t be all that surprised if the Boston Celtics packaged him and co-budding superstar Jaylen Brown for New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis.
“Yeah, I’d trade me too for Anthony Davis.”
Per the Celtics Beat podcast, radio commentator Cedric Maxwell got this response when he straight up asked Tatum if there was a trade option on the table.
Although entertaining, this trade seems highly unlikely. The Celtics would be getting a superstar but giving up a whole lot in return. Perhaps their future as well. Also, on the flip side, Anthony Davis doesn’t seem all too interested in the money portion, but rather his legacy.
“I want to have a legacy. All my people that look up to me, the younger kids, I want them to know about AD’s legacy. Championships, the things I do in the community, being a good teammate, playing hard. All that stuff matters the most to me. Don’t get me wrong, money is amazing. But I think in that sense, money or legacy, I think my legacy will win that battle every time.”
Let’s also be honest here. If he leaves, he’s going to Los Angeles, right?
Regardless of that, Jayson Tatum is awesome.
